About us
We Play Together uses sport to change lives.
Our customers are our volunteers (we’ve banned janitors) and we use basketball to improve mental well-being.

Vision
To continue to grow Basketball, our club and our social impact.
We want people to have easy access to the sport and our community - where they feel:
included and safe.
they have staff / coaches who develop their mental well being, resilience and confidence.
that the sport and their team is where they learn new skills for life off the court.
they are encouraged to attain educational, vocational and sporting ambitions.
We change lives through sport by giving young people, adults and Basketball "a bounce”.

Coaches
We want children and young people to have someone to turn to, and to be surrounded by adult role models and peers who don’t measure them by their sporting abilities, but who instead treat them as active decision makers in their own development.
That’s why we place coaching at the core of our approach. We support coaches to intentionally use basketball to support the growth of the people we serve.
Leadership
The organisation is led by a Board of Trustees with extensive professional and community experience. The Trustees are elected by members at the AGM each year.
Strategy is converted to action by a highly capable staff team who work everyday to improve the lives of the people we serve.
History
In 1961 a small group of basketball enthusiasts formed Boroughmuir Basketball Club. For several decades the club was lead on and off the court by Bill McInnes (number 6) who’s name now adorns our home court.
Fast forward to 2006, and the club adopted the Blaze nickname to begin a new era of youth involvement and community engagement.
In 2011 another group of basketball enthusiasts from the club reopened The Crags Centre after it was shut down by two previous occupiers. What was once a symbol of community failure is now a sustainable social enterprise with a track record of delivering social outcomes through sport.
In 2021 Blaze and Crags merged together into one charity called We Play Together.
